Writing workshop Your mother tongue
Your mother tongue is the language you learned in your childhood. The language in which you talk, laugh, sing, shout, and write. In short, the language in which you feel at home.
The Boekenweek 2025 theme is Your Mother Tongue. In this writing workshop, we will write about our roots. What does your mother tongue mean to you? What family do you come from? Who did you sit at the table with, and what did the conversations revolve around? What expressions did you use in your family?
This introductory writing workshop is open to both Dutch people and internationals. You are welcome to write in your own language, whether it’s Dutch, English, or another home language. We will share our stories and listen to each other. You will get to know other cultures through your mother tongue.
The focus is on writing enjoyment; experience in writing is not necessary. You don’t need to speak Dutch, as we will translate it for you.
Date: Friday, March 21, from 14:00 to 15:45 at the Veldhoven Library.

Motherhood
Raising a child in another country
With heart and soul, you are a mother. You have many beautiful moments with your children, sometimes there are also worries. The children grow up, become more independent or leave home. Your role changes and more space is created for yourself.
This leads to reflection. What are the challenges of raising your child in another country? What values do I want to give to my children, what do I take with me from my own mother? What do I want for myself?
In this writing workshop we will write extensively about this. You will get insights into your role and place as a mother. You learn a lot about yourself. There will be plenty recognition among each other. (The age of the children doesn’t matter, it’s about you as a mother).
Location: Rake inzichten, Veldhoven. Date: Friday April 4th from 10.00-12.00 hours. Costs: € 30,- incl. coffee and tea. A two-hour workshop led by a professional writing coach.
Small group (safe and much attention for everyone).

Write and walk
Do you enjoy walking and writing? As well as meeting new people? Walking brings peace to your mind. Besides, nature is a source of inspiration to write about.
While walking through forests and fields we frequently pause to ’taste’ what nature has to offer. After an hour of walking, we start writing at a nearby cafe. We read our stories to each other, which not only inspire one another but, most importantly, ourselves.
Each time we start at a different location, so you can explore various natural areas and cafes. Of course, you are welcome to write in English, Dutch or your native language. During the activity, we will speak in both English and Dutch, allowing you to practice your Dutch if you wish.
Location: Eindhoven/Veldhoven region. Writing experience is not necessary; the joy of writing is the most important thing. The route is approximately 3-4 km.
Date: Spring 2025 morning from 10.00 AM -12.15 PM.
